SPOUTING INSTALLATION CHECK LIST

ACCESS
Please ensure there is adequate space for a vehicle and trailer to park in close proximity to the installation site. Shrubs and trees that may prevent ladder access to the fascia and spouting should be trimmed accordingly.

SCAFFOLD
Must be supplied if the working height is over 5m, or if the ground is not stable enough to work safely from a ladder. The scaffolding must be at least 300mm away from the fascia board, and of a safe standard as per OSH regulations. Mobile scaffolding and scaffolding towers are not appropriate.

DOWNPIPE LOCATIONS
Marked with dazzle on the ground or wall, or with other visible method. Otherwise the owner/builder is to be on site when the contractors arrive to verify locations.

PLASTERWALLS
We need to know the type of plaster system (thickness) so we can make allowances where the spouting butts into the plaster. Also please ensure that all masking paper and drop sheets are clear of fascia and areas where there is to be spouting.

PAVING/CONCRETING
We have not yet devised a way to walk on wet concrete without creating havoc! Please remember we need ladder access to all areas where there is spouting.

ROOFS
On tile and steel roofs the tiles/iron & hip tiles/flashings should not overhang the fascia by more than 60mm. Where the roof pitch changes (ie tiles to butynol) it is very difficult to get the spouting to cover the ends of the roofing on both levels. Downpipe locations may need to be changed to achieve a suitable solution that is both functional and aesthetic

VALLEY TRAYS
Where possible sit on the fascia board or notch down to the minimum necessary.

POWER SUPPLY
Our machines require a power supply. Therefore, please ensure that a power connection is available for us

FASCIA BOARDS
Where applicable, please paint or stain a minimum of 24 hours prior to commencement of work

MATERIAL INCOMPATABILITY
These include Zincalume in contact with lead, steel in contact with aluminium, steel in contact with copper, cedar shingles and galvanised steel. Wherever possible direct contact should be limited between the above materials.

DRAINAGE
If the risers are in prior to the downpipes being installed a 80mm downpipe is ideal. If there is no scaffolding on site we prefer drainage channels to be backfilled so it is safe for the use of ladders.

Scope of Use

Continuous Spouting systems are solely intended for the collection of water from the surface of the roof. They are not intended to support concentrated or distributed loads heavier than the spouting being full of water (e.g. snow build up). Product performance, life expectancy and warranty are dependent upon environment, maintenance and material selection. Ensure the correct product is chosen for the environment. Installation of Continuous Spouting spouting systems must comply with the following sections of the NZ Building Code E1 Surface Water 4.1.2, 4.2.1, 4.3.1, 5.1.1, 5.1.2, 5.1.3, 5.3.1, 5.4.1.
